Cardiac Rehabilitation to Improve your Heart Health

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally. Statistics have shown that 210 people in South Africa die from heart disease every day. The WHO states that most cardiovascular diseases can be prevented by addressing behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet and obesity, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol.

What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?

Cardiac rehabilitation is a professionally supervised program designed to improve cardiovascular health. It is recommended following any cardiac events or procedures.

The program includes supervised exercise training, heart-healthy education, and counseling to enable people to regain full physical, psychological, and social status.

Who should attend Cardiac Rehabilitation?

People who underwent a cardiac event or have undergone an interventional procedure to ameliorate cardiac symptoms.

 Including but not restricted to:

  • Implanted pacemaker
  • Following CABG

We do however recommend that you speak to your doctor to determine if you are eligible for cardiac rehabilitation.
